The Postal Museum opened back in 2017 and each year welcomes more than 130,000 visitors from all over the world.

Visitors get the chance to learn about the 500-year-old story of British postal communication from its origins to how it works today.

From learning about the vehicles that help the post, uniforms worn by staff, pillar boxes, stamps and even the 100-year-old postal railway.

Unlike most museums, the Postal spot lets you experience what it's like to work underground delivering post on the Mail Rail.

@thepostalmuseum Step back in time to see what Mail Rail was like 85 years ago. On this day in 2003, Mail Rail ceased operations after playing a pivotal role in the transportation of mail in London for 76 years. This clip, taken from the 1939 film 'The City' made by the GPO Film Unit shows how Mail Rail operated when it was at its peak and would carry 4 million letters every day. This small, underground railway was a pioneering feat of engineering, becoming the world's first driverless railway with eight stations along its route from Paddington to Whitechapel. Today visitors to our museum can get a firsthand experience with our own Mail Rail ride that journeys into the tunnels. #PostalMuseum #MailRail #MuseumTok #Museum #London #History #TrainTok #Railways #Archive #LondonHistory #CapCut ♬ original sound - The Postal Museum

The small train takes you through tunnels and to platforms you otherwise might not be able to see and reveals the story of the postal service in London.

On the ride, you get to hear from and see the people who worked there, experience what life below ground was like and see parts of the railway like the train graveyard and sorting platforms.

Along with a ride on the Mail Ride, you can also enjoy interactive exhibits like sorting mail at the Travelling Post Office and learning how train signalling works for the postal service.
