A 21-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a man and attempted murder of a woman in Bow.

Fatima Umar was charged yesterday (November 25) for the fatal stabbing of Alan Geary, 46, and the attempted murder and stabbing of a 56-year-old woman. 

Police were called to reports of a man who had been stabbed at Navenby Walk just after midnight on November 23. 

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found Mr Geary suffering with stab injuries. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment, however, was pronounced dead shortly after. 

Two men, aged 45 and 23, and a 21-year-old woman were arrested at the address on suspicion of murder, but all three were later released without charge.

The same night at 3am, officers were called to another stabbing at a nearby address in Navenby Walk.

Police arrived to find a woman who had also been stabbed, she was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Umar was arrested and was later charged with the murder of Mr Geary and the attempted murder of the female victim.

She appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court the same day and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on November 27.

Police say Mr Geary’s next-of-kin have been informed of his death, and a post-mortem has taken place.
