A yellow weather warning has been issued for rain across London today which could lead to disruption.

The warning is currently in place across all of London as well as large parts of England until 9pm today (September 8).

Rain is expected in London for most of the afternoon today, with heavy downpours expected between noon and 1pm following by further showers of rain until 4pm.

There is a possibility that some of these showers may become heavy and thundery at times this afternoon, which may lead to some travel disruption.

Most areas could see rainfall of up to 10 mm, with some southern regions likely to see up to 40 – 60 mm of rainfall, following on from early downpours this week.

In London, the rain is expected until nearly 5pm, leading to some clearer skies before turning cloudy again by the evening, with a chance of some further thundery showers overnight.

Today’s wet weather may affect travel, with flooding leading to road closures and cancellations or delays to train and bus services, with people advised to check before travelling.

The rainfall may also affect homes and businesses, with a chance of power cuts and flooding leading to damage to homes and businesses.
