Emergency services responding to reports of a chemical smell in Stepney Green have discovered the source and it's not what you may think. 

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called at 10.27am this morning (August 6) with reports of a chemical smell in Redmans Road. 

The smell was reported coming from a student accommodation just off from the road.

Tape was used to block off a section of the street, reading "Do not cross, Hazard Zone".

Durian is native to southeast Asia and southern China where it is a delicacy. 

The fruit has a global reputation as the world's smelliest fruit.
