Two men have been arrested after early morning gun shots damaged a property.

A firearm was discharged at around 1.45am on Monday (June 17) in Shandy Street, Tower Hamlets.

The bullet caused damaged to a residential property but no one was injured as a result.

An immediate investigation led by specialist Trident detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command identified a black BMW car linked to the suspects.

This car was stopped nearby and two men were arrested and subsequently charged with firearms offences.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen or heard something.

Detective Inspector Iain Wallace who is leading the investigation added: “We continue to work tirelessly to compile evidence and any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove to be crucial.”

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney responsible for policing in Tower Hamlets said:

“We continue to work with our Specialist Crime colleagues and our local communities to locate illegal firearms and arrest the criminals responsible.

"I hope this this swift action acts as a stark warning to those who engage in violent criminality involving firearms, that you will be identified and taken off the streets.”
