Three adults and a child were shot in an alleged drive-by shooting.
Witnesses claim that multiple gunshots were heard at Kingsland High Street, Dalston, on Wednesday (May 29) at about 9.20pm.
One man, who was dining at the Evin restaurant, said he was sat there when bullets were sprayed towards the venue.
According to the Metropolitan Police, three adults and a child were found with gunshot injuries at the scene.
They were all taken to an east London hospital.
The child remains in a serious condition and the details of the other victims is unknown at this time.
Emergency services flooded the scene, including specialist firearm officers and Dalston Kingsland station was also shut.
Officers are working to establish the circumstances of the incident and no arrests have been made at this time.
Many eyewitnesses told the Hackney Gazette that a motorcyclist was seen speeding off in the area after gunshots were fired.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward, said: "We know Londoners will be shocked by what has taken place tonight.
"Our thoughts go to all those affected.
"Fast moving enquiries are under way and we will update as soon as we can. If anyone has any information, please contact us."
