A man has had a criminal charge upgraded to murder after a pensioner died.
Emergency services were called to Plaistow Road, in Newham, on May 15.
A 79-year-old man was found suffering injuries and taken to hospital.
However he has since died, Scotland Yard said.
His next of kin have been identified and are being supported by specialist officers.
Philip Fracezek, 20, of Tower Hamlets Road, in Forest Gate, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday (May 17) charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on June 14.
A Met spokesperson said: "Given the victim sadly died after the initial charges were imposed, we will work closely with the CPS to have the charge amended as appropriate."
