A man who died after an assault in Uxbridge has been named and pictured for the first time by police.
John Cavanagh was found injured after being attacked in Dawley Avenue shortly before 8.10pm on March 4.
The 44-year-old was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived.
A special post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death was the result of a head injury.
Jimmy McDonagh, 18, of Dawley Avenue, was arrested in connection with the incident in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, on March 5.
Three days after his arrest, McDonagh was charged with the murder of John Cavanagh.
He appeared in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ on March 9 where he was remanded until his next hearing at the Old Bailey on March 12.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Uxbridge.
“On Friday, 8 March detectives charged 18-year Jimmy McDonagh (29.01.06) of Dawley Avenue Hayes with the murder of John Cavanagh.
“McDonagh was arrested on Tuesday, 5 March, in the Ilkestone area of Derbyshire.
“He appeared in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ on Saturday 9 March where he was remanded until his next hearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 12 March.
“An investigation was launched after police were called shortly before 20:10hrs on Monday, 4 March to reports of an assault on Dawley Avenue.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and a 44-year-old man was taken to hospital where he sadly later died.
“He has been named as John Cavanagh, who was from the local area. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“A special post-mortem examination confirmed cause of death was the result of a head injury.
