An Essex-based charity is looking for support refurbishing one of its buildings as it plans on creating more space for vulnerable members of the community. 

Lambourne End Centre, which is located on the edge of Hainault Forest just outside of Havering, primarily works with young people from east London and Essex to deliver learning through a range of activities, from a 45ft climbing wall to interactions with animals. 

One of its facilities, a building donated by Alderton Junior School in Loughton, is in need of refurbishment and repairs partly due to damage from vandalism, the charity said.

It has launched a fundraiser to help pay for the work. 

Once finished, the building will support groups like Tunmarsh School in Newham, a pupil referral unit offering education for young people struggling in mainstream schools. 

Joe Smith, fundraising and marketing coordinator at Lambourne End Centre, said: “More people are coming to us because they need support. We are working to increase our capacity so that we can help vulnerable people across Essex and east London.
