POLICE are looking at complaints about a video featuring George Galloway which was posted on a social networking site.

In the video which was filmed at last month's anti-fascist rally at Altab Ali Park in Whitechapel the former Bethnal Green and Bow Respect MP warned the English Defence League if they touch a hijab on a Muslim woman's head or a beard on a Muslim man's face in Tower Hamlets they would "have to fight your way through 10,000 dead bodies first."

An estimated 3,000 people attended the heavily policed march which started at Stepney Green Park before gathering at Altab Ali Park in a show of strength against the far-right English Defence League.

Police received two complaints a week after the rally about the video posted on the social networking site YouTube.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm on Saturday 26 June officers from Tower Hamlets received two complaints about a video on the social networking site, YouTube. The complaints are being considered."

Mr Galloway who is currently overseas has not been interviewed by police.

His spokesman Rob Hoveman said: "The words speak for themselves. When people want to emphasise that they will do everything possible to stop something happening that they don't want to happen, the expression is often used that 'X will only happen over my dead body'."

"Mr Galloway was therefore merely expressing on behalf of the Muslim community and all those who oppose the racism and physical violence of the EDL, that he and they would do everything possible to stop the EDL trying to inspire fear in and physical violence against the Muslim community.
