At the town hall we are eagerly awaiting the vaccine for the people of our borough. What a wonder of science it is that it is on the way.
However, it’s not here yet and as I write this we are in the tougher third tier because our infection rates in London are rising again.
I sense that everyone is utterly weary of Covid-19 but it needs that extra heave to keep us safe.
And so as 2020 draws to an end we reflect on a challenging year due to Covid-19. As a council we’ve been there for those in need - providing PPE, housing rough sleepers, supporting people who are shielding and we will be feeding children in the Christmas holidays.
Together with the heroes in the NHS, our schools, and of course you, in the community. Thanks are due to everyone who has helped.
This year we’ve once again seen the East End come together and show its grit, determination and community spirit.
Don’t drop your guard but I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
