A FAST-FOOD business has won an appeal to open a new drive-thru branch in Colchester after plans were previously rejected for not safeguarding pedestrian access to the area.

Police officers were called to reports of a collision involving a silver Ford Transit courier van and a pedestrian on Main Road, at the junction with King George’s Avenue, at around 7.40am this morning. The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, has sustained “potentially serious injuries to his arm and head”. The force is issuing an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
