A new café and events destination is set to open in Stratford this May.

Riverside East, both a dining and an events hub, will open its doors on May 17, promising a dynamic programme of activities and collaborations with local businesses.

Set within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Riverside East's café, with 300 seats, is designed to cater to a broad audience.

The menu is plotted by chef Lulu Cox, with the dishes aligning with the venue’s principles of sustainability and wellness.

Food will be sourced from low-waste suppliers and include lots of breakfast choices in the mornings.

The menu also boasts cups of Allpress Espresso's specialty coffee and grab-and-go options like artisan pastries.

The new venue has a focus on being "plant-forward".

The café will transform into a dinner spot by night, and will also be the host of the Riverside Weekend Brunch from June.

Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to ice cream sandwiches by Happy Endings, and tubs of Hackney Gelato.

The outdoor area, named the Yard, will be home to rotating pop-ups of London’s independent food vendors.

The Yard has a capacity for 1,000 guests, and can host outdoor screenings and independent markets.

The venue plans to offer a schedule of events to families, foodies, and students, integrating music, such as DJ sets, art, and sport.

Wellness is also a focus of Riverside East, with a dedicated space in collaboration with Slow Motion Wellness, featuring classes and a wild sauna, set to open in the coming months.

In line with the venue’s ethos on sustainability, the décor uses recycled wood for tables, natural straw pendants for light fixtures, and lush greenery inside and out.

The Terrace, yet another outdoor area, will have a roof garden with seasonal herbs for use in the food menu.

Riverside East also plans to open a restaurant in autumn 2024, with more details to come close to the time.
